Many New Orleans area residents still remember the Mike Persia Chevrolet jingle; “Buy your Chevrolet from Persia..”. This 1961 advertisement includes the address of the Metairie Road dealership. Other locations included, over the years, Veterans Highway, Canal Street, North Rampart Street, and St. Claude Avenue. A block down the road one could enter the Do Drive-In. The infamous Do showed its last B movie during the 1980s before it was torn down to build the upscale Old Metairie Village Shopping Center and the exclusive DeLimon Place condominium development which was named for Henry DeLimon who had owned an orange grove on the property during the early 1900s.
