One of the nicest motels on Metairie’s Airline Highway, the Candlelight Inn (4801 Airline) had heated pools, banquet and wedding reception services, and a Swedish Smorgasbord long before all-you-can-eat buffets became common-place. A Wendy’s Restaurant and Greff Motors. now occupy the site on the corner of Zinnia Avenue. An orthopedic center in the 4900 block was once the location of Oak Park Cabins (4901, corner of River Street) which was operated by John Lorino and Jerry Anselmo in 1941

The Deep South Motel, as it appeared in 1959, was at 5021 Airline (corner of Transcontinental). Across the street at 5100 was Martin’s Hotel Court. A Holiday Inn was at 5735 – it is now the Travel Inn Plaza. At 5825, Rozal's Motel offered weekly and monthly rates across from what is now the New Orleans Saints practice field and training facility.
