1929 - Pontchartrain Beach at Spanish Fort

This 1939 photograph shows the gates of the original Pontchartrain Beach which was built opposite Spanish Fort along Bayou St. in 1928 on newly reclaimed land. This photograph was taken shortly before the amusement park moved eastward to more newly reclaimed land fronting old Milneburg. (Courtesy New Orleans Public Library).
